e-IANA wherefore art thou?

Writing to the Security, Stability & Resiliency Public Comment Forum, Nominet's Martin Boyle points to issues with the "e-IANA" implementation, stating:  "The implementation of e-IANA is mentioned on page 39, but is not picked up in the deliverables on page 53.  This has been a long-delayed implementation, with no explanation as to why the initiative has been delayed and no indication of likely timescales."

The "e-IANA" is an automated DNS root zone management software package developed and licensed by NASK (you can read more about it here) that per the IANA apparently requires an amendment of the IANA contract with the U.S. Department of Commerce (NOTE:  the IANA is in the last option year of its contract with the DOC, and the NTIA website makes no reference to any recently approved contract amendment).

It sure would be nice to get an update on this situation from those in the know...
