MOUs in the ICANN World

Over the years, ICANN has established MOUs (Memorandums of Understanding) with a number of different organizations ranging from the MOU with the U.S. Department of Commerce, to MOUs with the IETF and the IAB (Internet Architecture Board).

Recent MOUs are supposed to be posted on the ICANN documents page (but we get a broken link).  So here (from a cached copy) are some of the folk with whom ICANN has agreed to MOUs:

  • Pacific Islands Telecommunications Association
  • Commonwealth Telecommunications Organization
  • United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia
  • African Telecommunications Union
  • Inter-American Telecommunications Commission of the Organization of American States
  • Lomonosov Moscow State University Institute for Information Security Issues
  • Russian Association of Networks and Services
  • United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization

One issue that immediately springs to mind:  Why hasn't ICANN, in the spirit of "enhanced cooperation" entered into an MOU with the ITU?
